CURRICULUM
An Environment That
Cultivates Compassionate Leaders
-
The foundation of our curriculum is empowering children to believe in themselves, their relationship to others and how they connect with the world around them.
This core pillar guides all communication with our students, and how we operate as a school within our community. -
Meal times are an important way for children to learn about food, nutrition and their bodies.
Our organic food program is part of how we invite children to experience the affect food has on them and the planet.
-
Children will have up to two hours of outside play and activities daily. Children will learn about using their bodies through activities and exercises to bring awareness around the body and the power of movement as a form of expression.
-
Nature education is taught in both the classroom and outdoors. Time will be spent in nature daily and will include environmentally conscious teachings.
-
Utilizing techniques from a variety of learning experts, children will explore memory, speed reading, study skills, note taking, focus, creative thinking and more.
-
All of our students will be introduced to concepts and real-life experience around regenerative farming, livestock, healthy soil as well as learning how to grow fruits and vegetables.
-
Using group discussions, children are asked questions to stimulate critical thinking and independent learning. They are invited to share their ideas and learn to understand different view points on a topic. This serves as a foundation for critical thinking, acceptance and compassion.
-
With the foundational principle that money is energy, students will learn why money is used and how it’s earned, managed, multiplied and more, through our own micro economy.
-
Children will learn how to identify, create, and execute on goals. We will build out their goals with families to help support each step, from successful planning through to achievement of their goals.
Our Programs
-
Casa
(3.8-6 years as of September)
We support our young students during the stage of life where they are building their core self-esteem, learning skills as they integrate sequential thinking. -
Lower Elementary
(6-9 years)
Lots of action in this mixed age group as they are guided and challenged through development of skills as they begin to see and understand the big picture of the world they live in. -
Upper Elementary
(9-12 years)
Fostering curiosity with collaborative learning, innovation and creative exploration. Students explore the natural world and human experience with emotional support and empowering learning opportunities.
“Placing our daughter in Academy of Enlightened Minds has been one of the greatest gifts we could have provided her. The sense of community among the parents and children is very evident and it has been an absolute privilege and honour to be a part of this community.”
